Cincinnati Zoo delivers wholesome child animal

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A brand new child animal was born on the Cincinnati Zoo on Thursday morning.

9-year-old Isla the tamandua, a kind of anteater, gave delivery to a wholesome child after being on delivery look ahead to over a month.

“The delivery window for tamanduas is 130-190 days, and Isla’s pup got here on the very finish of that window,” Cincinnati Zoo Zoological Supervisor Julie Grove mentioned. “Our Zoo Volunteer Observer (ZVO) workforce has been monitoring Isla’s each transfer since mid-November, and our care workforce has carried out common ultrasounds to trace fetal improvement. Isla’s keepers have established a tremendous bond together with her, and she or he cooperates absolutely with ultrasounds and different health-related procedures.”

The intercourse of the child has not but been decided, the zoo says.
